AEE Energy and Environmental Survey, 1996
Published in Paperback by Unknown (04 September, 1996)
Average review score:

thrillingA true page-turner. As I came to the end of each sentence, I was excitedly pulled by my anxious desire to know the out-come. Yet, AEE certainly isn't just a "store-bought" thriller; it is literature, each page saturated with it's own undefineable music.

Gentlemen from England (Borealis Books)
Published in Paperback by Minnesota Historical Society (October, 1993)
Average review score:

if you like Betsy.....I got this book on a whim, just because I love the Betsy-Tacy books, and figured that since those are autobiographical, then this would be what "Betsy" would have written. It is a good book- it tells the story of a misguided but sweet young man from England who jouneys to America to make a new life for himself. He encounters two extremely gothic characters who give the book an interesting twist, and has a passionate love affair. Through all his mishaps and passions, he finally discovers himself- and happiness- in a transported world of foxhunts, balls, and estates that must soon conform to new customs or perish. If you like the Betsy books, you will probably like this- it is an adult book, but still captures the youthful spirit and vibrance of the Betsy series. Lovelace writes with heart, taking the reader into her world.

Slashing Utility Costs Handbook
Published in Hardcover by Fairmont Pr (March, 1993)
Average review score:

Excellent cursory review of ways to sidestep costsI thought this book spoke well to the non-technical persons who might be involved with utility cost management in a commercial or industrial environment. The information was new and in depth where it needed to be. The author is abviously an expert in the field and has a knack for clearly explaining its complexities to those who arn't. I recommend this book to any person interested in their bottom line.

Energy Management Handbook
Published in Textbook Binding by Prentice Hall (31 December, 1969)
Average review score:

Energy Management Handbook - Third EditionThe Energy Management Handook was purchased in order to review for the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) Certified Energy Manager (CEM) exam. Having read the entire 700 page book during the review I would highly recommend this book for anyone interested in energy auditing/management techniques. Covers boilers, steam systems, heat recovery, building envelope, electrical systems, controls, etc.
William Wilcox / Mechanical Electrical Systems Coordinator / Dana Corporation / Toledo, OH
Energy Management Handbook by Wayne C. Turner (Editor)I was a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and practiced energy management professionally in the 1990's. Dr. Turner's book is a excellent reference in this area, covering all the major aspects of energy management. I highly recommend it to anyone who is going to practice energy management seriously.

The Roofing and Cladding Systems Handbook: A Guide for Facility Managers (2nd Edition)
Published in Textbook Binding by Unknown (15 October, 1999)
Average review score:

Vendor-Neutral RecommendationsAs a professional in the building materials industry, this book is a welcome surprise. Generally, books of this nature that are designed to assist in the conception, design, purchase, installation and upkeep of any portion of a building usually degenerate into a barely-tolerable advertisement for one manufacturer or another. Mr. Reid's book, on the other hand, does an excellent job of discussing what you need to know to make a sound decision, what you should be trying to accomplish, and the options that you have in trying to accomplish your task. I would highly recommend this book to anyone in the construction or building management industries.
This Roofing Book gave me all the info I needed.I was able to find out everything I needed to know for my roofing project. Reid's book was complete and organized in a way that made it easy for me to find and diagnose my situation. The book also gave me information on financing and estimates to reduce my energy costs so I was able to profit from fewer roof repairs. I am better able to sell my roofing projects because I can reduce facility costs for heating, which Reid's book shows how to do. There was lots of info on materials and step by step sample thermal and expansion calculations. Compared to other roofing books, this one was pretty good.

Variable Speed Drive Fundamentals
Published in Textbook Binding by Prentice Hall (25 April, 1997)
Average review score:

Variable conceptslooking for a book that explanes in simple way the difrent areas of variable speed drives with no mathematical base, in a general way or for a introduction on the topic. Then this book is a good satrting point, it gives you a general idear of this technology, examples and a good base to continue searching variable speed drives.
Modern ac drives: explaining the practical aspectsLooking for a book about AC Drives written for technicians without mathematical background, I came up with this one. This text is clearly the result of an experienced engineer who tries to explain the fundamentals of modern driving technology in human language. Due to this attempt, mathematics had to be reduced to a minimum and most fundamental principles about electrical motors and driving technology have to be accepted as they are. Unfortunately, if you want to know why and how it happens, this book may not be the right choice. On the contrary, if you are purchasing a text with rule of thumbs, back of the envelope type calculations and practical aspects on motors and drives (AC & DC), this book deserves to be considered. A strong emphasis lies on the energy saving aspect of modern AC drives which is very important for all technicians using these drives. If there was an SI version of this text, I'd recommend it also to my colleagues/customers in Europe.

This Nest of Vipers: McCarthyism and Higher Education in the Mundel Affair, 1951-52
Published in Hardcover by Univ of Illinois Pr (Pro Ref) (November, 1989)
Average review score:

This Nest of Vipers - Charles H. McCormickShould be required reading at Fairmont State College. Having moved away from WV in 1950, the year of my graduation from FSC, I was unaware of this hysterical scandal until an old friend sent me a copy of it on its publication. For shame, Fairmont! Wonder how many copies of this book might be found in the library at Fairmont State? One hopes at least one...
